Thoughts & Prayers

Updated: Feb 7, 2023

On Tuesday, January 24th, Minnesota White Bear Lake Police Officers were attempting to arrest a felony domestic assault suspect. Several of the officers were fired upon during this encounter and unfortunately, one officer on the scene, Officer Ryan Sheak, was struck multiple times. Fortunately, due to the quick thinking and heroic actions of his partners, Officer Sheak was quickly extracted from the scene and transported to the hospital. He remains in the hospital today and is in stable condition. The incident has been successfully resolved with an arrest thanks to the extraordinary bravery of the officers involved as well as partner agencies around the metro area. We also want to recognize the hard work of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office, which resulted in criminal charges against the suspect.

Officer Sheak is a six-year veteran of the White Bear Lake Police Department. He was raised in the community, attended White Bear Lake High School and lives in the metro area with his family. Officer Sheak has established an outstanding reputation of excellence as a Patrol Officer, DARE Officer, Training Officer and serves as a Crisis Negotiator with the Ramsey County SWAT Team. His growth in the community and dedication to the citizens of White Bear Lake has not gone unnoticed.

Officer Sheak is a board member for the Front Line Foundation and this very foundation is raising money to provide a Bond the Call of Duty Benefit to Officer Sheak and his family.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Officer Ryan Sheak and his family along with the White Bear Lake Police Department. We also want to send our sincerest thank you to the men and women in every police department who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe. We will always be thankful.
