The Hero Training Center

A couple weeks ago, our team had the opportunity to visit the newly built Hero Training Center in Cottage Grove, MN. This is a training facility that provides police, fire and emergency medical services the space to train cooperatively in order to serve the community affectively. It also provides the necessary training environments to outside agency partners and organizations. This facility is actually one of the largest training facilities in the state of Minnesota with an indoor training area of about 48,000 square feet and an outdoor secure training area of about 150,000 square feet. To say that this facility is extraordinary is an understatement.

Why Is This Training Facility Needed?

This facility is available for hosting training to distant and local emergency responders who travel long distances to accomplish their training needs. This helps emergency responders better prepare for their day to day work now and as the community continues to grow in the future. The flexible training spaces allow multiple divisions to work together and separately but also encourage mutually respected relationships improving the quality of training. The facility will create opportunities for hosting community-based education on safety and training such as CPR, firearms and recreational vehicle safety training.

What Does This Facility Provide?

The Hero Training Center is open to the public and offers different types of training services such as a 12-Lane Gun Range Practice, a Mats Room for defensive tactics/RTR Training and classrooms for a more simple learning environment. It also includes an indoor reality based configuration room, outdoor houses and a training simulator to experience real life situations.

All of which will help future police, fire and emergency services carry out their duties day to day but also prepare for unexpected situations.

This is an incredible training facility that the state of Minnesota provided for the police, fire and emergency medical services to come together and work as one. This regional state-of-the-art immersive training center is a chance for all law enforcement to strongly advance their training for real life situations to better protect our communities. We are not only thankful that this facility will improve what law enforcement, fire and medical services use when they are out on the field but also the chance for the public to see the processes and multiple exercises they go through to keep us all safe.
