Blueline Strives to Protecting Our Roads

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety is recognizing 61 officers, troopers and prosecutors who have been working hard to keep our roads safe from drunk drivers. This DWI Enforcer All-Star Team was honored at the Minnesota Twins Target Field on Sunday, August 7th. These All-Stars were chosen for their efforts of keeping impaired drivers off the Minnesota roads in 2021. These law enforcement officers’ commitment to the safety of drivers, passengers, motorcyclists, bicyclists, and pedestrians is what protects so many innocent lives from being taken.

Officer Patrick Bendel of the Red Lake Police Department stated “I’m thankful for the work of the entire All-Star Enforcer team and law enforcement statewide in stopping bad decisions from turning tragic. Every life on the road is valued, and every person deserves to feel safe behind the wheel and get home safely.”

About the Minnesota Department Public Safety

The Department of Public Safety comprises 11 divisions where 2,100 employees operate programs in the areas of law enforcement, crime victim assistance, traffic safety, alcohol and gambling, emergency communications, fire safety, pipeline safety, driver licensing, vehicle registration and emergency management.

DPS activity is structured by three core principles: education, enforcement, and prevention.

About the Office of Traffic Safety

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety (DPS-OTS) designs, implements and coordinates federally funded traffic safety enforcement and education programs to improve driver behaviors and reduce the deaths and serious injuries that occur on Minnesota roads. These efforts form a strong foundation for the statewide Toward Zero Deaths traffic safety program. DPS-OTS also administers state funds for the motorcycle safety program, child seats for needy families program and school bus stop arm camera project.

These programs ensure our communities safety but also the safety of the front line men and women who risk their lives everyday for us. Respecting those who fight for our liberties day in and day out is how we can honor their duties.
